Package: gimp
Version: 2.8.2-2+deb7u1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

GIMP manpage mentions "gimp-console" command,
which, I guess, is intended to work without running X.
But it is unable to open jpeg files, for example:

----------------------
$ gimp-console /usr/share/gimp/2.0/scripts/texture.jpg  -b "(gimp-quit 0)"

(file-jpeg:5766): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:
GIMP-Error: Plug-in crashed: "file-jpeg"
(/usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/file-jpeg)

The dying plug-in may have messed up GIMP's internal state. You may want to
save your images and restart GIMP to be on the safe side.

GIMP-Error: Calling error for procedure 'file-jpeg-load':
Procedure 'file-jpeg-load' returned no return values

GIMP-Error: Opening '/usr/share/gimp/2.0/scripts/texture.jpg' failed: Procedure
'file-jpeg-load' returned no return values
----------------------

I don't see an obvious reason why jpeg files cannot be opened in console mode;
but anyway, if the file cannot be opened, the plugin probably should not crash.
