Middle-clicking on the channel window pastes whatever I last copied with Ctrl-C into the text input area. Middle-clicking on the text input area pastes whatever I copied by selection. I've heard a lot of talk about inconsistent pasting behaviour in Linux, but I think this is the first time I've ever seen it...
