The --enable and --disable options *cannot* be used on Debian sarge and
testing, and they should never be used by a Debian package even in sid.
Call it a bug; but it would be a more serious bug to just continue and
pretend that all is well (while the changes made will be overwritten the
next time a package is installed or reconfigured that installs TeX
fonts).

It's update-updmap, by the way.  People interested in this should have a
look at the Debian TeX Policy Draft in the tex-common package.

>From the point of view of the teTeX maintainer, the fix is the right
one, but I can't say whether thailatex needs further adjustments.
