On boot I see one of these traces, or stack dumps, spewed to console (and dmesg, see below, truncated at the end of relevant messages I hope), but no hang at loading the CD module. The CD player is seen by the OS, and gnome-cd plays a few bars from the CD, then the machine reboots (screen darkens and straight to Bios splash screen, no log entries, no error codes). (Aside, somehow I seemed to have gnome-media installed without the gst cdparanoia dependency - odd but presumably unrelated and easily fixed).
