Package: xdelta3
Version: 3.0.8-dfsg-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
There is/was no upstream changelog with xdelta3. The only changelog is
the debian changelog which doesn't tell/share what changes were made
in a new release.

For e.g. from the recent changelog.

xdelta3 (3.0.8-dfsg-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * new upstream release (only minor changes)
  * Bug fix: "Please add watch file", thanks to Dmitry Shachnev (Closes:
    #735273).

Now I saw this when upgrading from xdelta3 3.0.7-dfsg-2 but it doesn't
tell what changes were made.

What would be nice is to have changelog.gz which are nothing but
collections of commit messages in the release.

For e.g. see alsa-util's changelog.gz

/usr/share/doc/alsa-utils$ zcat changelog.Debian.gz | less
alsa-utils (1.0.27.2-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.
  * Drop all patches: all were git cherrypicks.
  * Add aplay_fix_off_by_one_errors.patch from git: fix two off by one
    errors in aplay that prevented usage of the last available sample format.
  * Add systemd_service_typo.patch from git: fix typo in service file.
  * Add alsactl_home.patch: Add a new configure switch that allows one to
    configure the value of $HOME for alsactl invocations.
  * Pass --with-alsactl-home-dir=/var/run/alsa to configure, to avoid
    autospawned pulseaudio littering / (closes: #712980).
  * Hardcode the same in the sysvinit script.
  * Add systemd_restore_condition.patch: Check for the existance of the
    asound.state file before trying to restore anything.

And this is from the changelog.gz

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

* alsa-utils

  + Core

    Require alsa-lib 1.0.27.

  + ALSA Control (alsactl)

    alsactl init: ca0106 file was omitted

  + Speaker Test

  + amixer
    amixer: Print TLV of channel map controls

It would be nice to have something similar like that.

Looking forward to reply.
