Package: monit Version: 1:5.7-1 Severity: minor --- Please enter the report below this line. --- Hi,
First of all, despite the recent discussion about init in Debian, I don't want to open a flame war, I just want to ask a question. Does installing sysvinit make monit more useful? The "issue" with recommends is that it will install sysvinit, with the default apt settings. I know this can't do any harm. Nevertheless, I appreciate when there is a real reason to do it :) Currently, I'm using monit along with systemd for its web server feature, that allows to simply start and stop a service with a web browser. And I personally don't see any features that could be more useful with sysvinit. Please slap me if I am a fool for asking that! --- System information. --- Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.13-1-686-pae Debian Release: jessie/sid 500 unstable ftp.fr.debian.org 1 experimental ftp.fr.debian.org --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed =============================-+-============== libc6 (>= 2.11) | 2.18-4 libpam0g (>= 0.99.7.1) | 1.1.8-2 libssl1.0.0 (>= 1.0.0) | 1.0.1f-1 lsb-base (>= 3.2-13) | 4.1+Debian12 Package's Recommends field is empty.
