tags 738921 + wontfix thanks Hi,
Drupal currently depends on you having installed either php5-mysql or php5-pgsql, either of them is enough to get a successful Drupal installation. Of course, it would be desireable not to prompt you for a DB driver that's currently not available... But we don't want to diverge much from upstream. But anyway, now that you got me thinking on this topic: Drupal is _slowly_ working towards really supporting PostgreSQL, but I still cannot recommend it to you. The issue was terrible under Drupal6, where even parts of the core Drupal died under any DB driver different than MySQL. Nowadays, thanks to the DB abstraction done for the 7.x releases, a Drupal install is much more likely to succed with PostgreSQL — but still, many modules will not be happy with it (as they specifically use some MySQL quirks). At least until Drupal8 is out (and then we shall discuss it again!), I strongly suggest you (with all the heartache this brings to me!) to stick to MySQL. PostgreSQL is vastly superior, but it will bring you problems. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
