Turns out the warnings and differences just mentioned were red herrings. The real culprit was the specific hardware's userland driver, libgtop11dotnet , which is not distributed by Debian, and was lagging behind. It had a dependency on the libboost_* family at version 1.42, and the latest update to wheezy pushed that to 1.49, hence the result. Problem solved by fetching an up-to-date libgtop11dotnet. Apologies for the noise,
-Alex
