Package: lists.debian.org Severity: wishlist Howdy,
For the Squeeze LTS project, we would like two Debian mailing lists setup to help communicate changes out to the wider LTS userbase. I've put them both in this one bug report, but I'll split out the "request data" to make it easier to parse. Name: debian-lts-changes Rationale: Essentially the same as every other -changes list -- all packages uploaded to the LTS suite(s) should have somewhere to be broadcast to, so the people interested in such things (developers involved in LTS work, etc) can see what's going on. Short description: Changes to the "debian LTS" distribution Long description: All new package uploads to the LTS ("Long-Term Support") suite are announced here. You should subscribe to this list if you want immediate notification of every package upload to LTS. If you only wish to receive announcements of new package releases on LTS, you may wish to subscribe to the debian-lts-announce mailinglist instead. Category: Misc Subscription policy: open Post policy: Moderated. Pre-approval should be allowed for whatever will be sending .changes files to the list (something in ftpmaster land; sorry I don't know any more about that). Initial moderators can be myself (mpal...@debian.org) and Moritz Muehlenhoff (j...@debian.org); we'll add more people as we get up to speed. Web archive: yes ***INTERMISSION*** Name: debian-lts-announce Rationale: In a similar vein to debian-security-announce, we intend to broadcast the availability of new packages in the LTS suite via some sort of advisory. While debian-security-announce *could*, in theory, be used for this, the mechanics of getting the list of "permitted people" who can post to the list extended isn't trivial, and we'd prefer not to step on other toes too much while we're still getting the whole LTS concept underway. Short description: Announcements for the "debian LTS" distribution (low volume) Long description: Important information about new uploads and the status of the LTS distribution are posted here, including security advisories for packages updated in LTS. If you are using the LTS updates on any systems, it is highly recommended that you subscribe to this list, to ensure you are kept fully up-to-date. Category: Users Subscription policy: open Post policy: Moderated. Pre-approval should be allowed for any message signed by a key in the Debian keyring. Initial moderators can be myself (mpal...@debian.org) and Moritz Muehlenhoff (j...@debian.org); we'll add more people as we get up to speed. Thanks very much for your assistance in getting these lists setup. - Matt -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
