Thanks for reporting that, and I'm sorry no one has answered it until now. Unfortunately at this point 2.4.23 is quite old. Do you still experience this problem with 2.4.31 from wheezy or 2.4.39 from jessie? If you do, can you try to run slapd with debugging enabled (-d 1) and post the output when it crashes, or capture a backtrace from gdb?
