Package: sylpheed Version: 2.0.4-1 Some additional information:
When 'edit with external editor' is pressed, sylpheed creates a file '/home/user/.sylpheed-2.0/tmp/tmpmsg.0x0000000'. This file already contains the corrupted version of the text and opens in the editor. Sylpheed seems to convert the text before passing it to the editor and does this depending on the locale (LC_ variables). The result howerever is unusable, especially when multiple languages are beeing used. Everything which is not found in the character set corresponding to the language determined by the locale setting is then replaced with underscores. (For the rest of the text sylpheed has not been able to choose the right encoding on my system.) Some possible solutions: - using a fixed encoding like utf8 or iso-10646 - adding options for encoding to use with external editor (and with actions) - using the outgoing encoding and including headers Thank you for replying ;) -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Locale: LANG=, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) ... -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
