About the STIX versions at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/stixfonts/files/Current%20Release/:
* STIXv1.1.1-webfonts.zip contains WOFF versions of STIXGeneral and some
versions of STIX Word adapted for MathJax. I don't think one wants to
install them (except perhaps as a local Web servers) so they can be
ignore for fonts-stix. Said otherwise, bug 730995 can be closed.
* STIXv1.1.0.zip contains two sets: STIXGeneral (about 30 files) and
STIX Word (4 files which includes STIX Math). STIXGeneral are becoming
obsolete, although they are still used by MathJax and Gecko <= 30, so
you might want to keep them. For STIX Word, the more recent 1.1.1
version should be considered (see below)
* STIXv1.1.0-latex contains version for use in the traditional TeX
typesetting engine (with the TeX metrics files and stuff). It would be
best to ask to the maintainers of the related package if they need these
fonts. It's probably already a dependency in texlive.
* STIXv1.1.1-word is the modern OpenType fonts with a MATH table (see
http://mpeg.chiariglione.org/standards/mpeg-4/open-font-format/text-isoiec-cd-14496-22-3rd-edition
section 6.3.6). The name is really confusing, indeed it can be used in
Microsoft Word but also in modern TeX typesetting engines such as XeTeX,
LuaTeX or ConTeXt. Again, that should be a dependency for texlive, I guess.
Anyway, all what I want to ask is to integrate the STIXv1.1.1-word in
the fonts-stix package, please. I have recently been working on the
support for the MATH table in WebKit and Gecko and these fonts will be
necessary for the MathML rendering.
Note that in Gecko 31 (next ESR), the STIXGeneral fonts will be
deprecated in favor of the STIX Math fonts. For details, see
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/MathML_Project/Fonts
Thanks,
