I do agree that not having a 'status' init script command is, to put it
mildly, a major nuisance, and I thank you for your work on it! I don't,
just at this moment, have an opinion on whether this should be
considered a serious bug, I'll have to think about it a bit more.

However, well, yeah, I guess that this shows once again that I need to
prepare and propose an update to stunnel in stable; the fact is, this
problem, previously reported as #548974, was fixed as part of my
adopting stunnel and updating it to version 5.00 in unstable and
testing.

So... do you think it would be possible for you to take a look at my
work on stunnel in unstable? If it is not very convenient, you could
just wait a couple of days, I'll prepare at least a backport (containing
all the changes and the update to stunnel-5.00) and, quite possibly,
also a proposed stable update (containing only some important fixes)
within the next day or two. All I've done for stunnel is available in a
Git repository at git://anonscm.debian.org/collab-maint/stunnel.git and
also viewable via HTTP at
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/stunnel.git

Thanks again for your willingness to improve stunnel and your actual
work on preparing a patch!

G'luck,
Peter
