Package: telnet Version: 0.17-32 Severity: normal *** Please type your report below this line ***
As written in the subject, the telnet package has an indirect dependency on inetd (through the netbase meta-package), but as I understand, the telnet client itself does not need the inetd being installed to work. Because of that I like to ask you, if you couldn't change the Depends: of telnet to the packages really needed from netbase. Background: I want to have the telnet client on a box, but I don't want an inetd to be running/installed. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.14-hxk Locale: LANG=de_DE, LC_CTYPE=de_DE (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages telnet depends on: ii libc6 2.3.5-8 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:4.0.2-4 GCC support library ii libncurses5 5.5-1 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libstdc++6 4.0.2-4 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii netbase 4.23 Basic TCP/IP networking system telnet recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- ^^^ | Evgeni -SargentD- Golov ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) d(O_o)b | PGP-Key-ID: 0xAC15B50C >-|-< | WWW: www.die-welt.net ICQ: 54116744 / \ | IRC: #sod @ irc.german-freakz.net
