The criteria for serious is "is a severe violation of Debian policy
(roughly, it violates a must or required directive), or, in the package
maintainer's or release manager's opinion, makes the package unsuitable for
release." I am not convinced this a violation of Debian policy. If so, what
section is it violating?

If you disagree with Jelmer's response, please say so, and why, and will
can discuss this bug further, maybe involving debian-devel if required.
Otherwise I will have to assume you are happy with his response, and will
close this bug.
