If you'd like to help get an updated megaglest version uploaded to sid, I'm sure that the current maintainers would appreciate any help to make this happen. See [1] for the current todo list for the package that Paul Wise has put together. A few other issues affecting the megaglest package has popped up since then, e.g. #751225, so those bugs will have to be fixed as well.
