Package: postfix Version: 2.11.1-1 Followup-For: Bug #627570 Dear Maintainer,
I suspect some problem with the /etc/init.d/postfix skript. * What led up to the situation? "aptitude safe-upgrade" upgrading postfix to 2.11.1-1. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? "aptitude safe-upgrade" * What was the outcome of this action? relevant output from mentioned "aptitude safe-upgrade": ---8<--- Stopping Postfix Mail Transport Agent: postfix. Starting Postfix Mail Transport Agent: postfixpostfix/postfix-script: fatal: the Postfix mail system is already running failed! invoke-rc.d: initscript postfix, action "restart" failed. dpkg: error processing package postfix (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 --->8--- * What outcome did you expect instead? Postfix shutting down and restarting cleanly. Running "dpkg --configure -a" results in the same output. When I do "service postfix stop", the following processes keep running: /usr/lib/postfix/master pickup -l -t fifo -u -c qmgr -l -t fifo -u I'd expect them to die. When I do "pkill -f /usr/lib/postfix/master", they all die within seconds, and I can then do "dpkg --configure -a" without further errors. Same thing on a different machine, so it's not a single occurence. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (990, 'stable-updates'), (990, 'testing'), (990, 'stable'), (900, 'testing-updates'), (90, 'unstable'), (9, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.14-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
