Have a look at the discussions on debian-python, the issue of git was
raised again. Unfortunately the subject line was not updated to reflect the
change in topic.

In short, everyone seems to agree that using git is a good idea, but they
are not sure which workflow to standardise on.

I have noticed that python-django in experimental is team maintained and
now using git. You might want to talk to Raphael Hertzog <hert...@debian.org>
on what he did.
