I encountered this with 3.14.15-2 (from linux-image-3.14-2-686-pae). For the record, first symptom was cryptsetup not finding the partition and hanging with: Begin: Waiting for encrypted source device ... Adding sd_mod to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and running update-initramfs solved the rather annoying issue and /dev/sd* and /dev/disk/* reappear. An immediate workaround is to do modprobe sd_mod in the busybox shell that appears after the "Waiting for..." message times out after a minute or so. Does not happen with 3.10.11-1 from linux-image-3.10-3-686-pae. Cheers, Martin
