Looking from newcomers perspective, this bug report seems to have degenerated into yet another systemd rant which is not productive. Let's imagine we would take the 1.3.x version and add it to Sid. Do you consider this possible, anyhow? If no, what are the reasons against it, apart from the convention "1.3 is development and therefore evil". I mean, what's the most minimal subset of things that are required to fix in order to use it? Dependencies are propably not the problem, I could install the experiment version in Sid without pulling in the rest of xfce updates or uninstalling any. The situation with current Sid version is pretty bad. On my system, the power manager was NOT controlled by UI, I could configure whatever I wanted but the changes were not applied. I was not able to use Hibernate in any way. And the brightness controls also failed most of the time. And replacing systemd didn't resolve any problem, new problem appeared instead (no hibernate/suspend usable even from the logout dialog). The way to solve this was: a) configure systemd to get the hands off power control (logind.conf mod and loind restart) b) installing the Experimental version. Now it finally does something sensible, even suspend-to-ram seems to work again (probably broken by systemd before) I seriously suggest doing what serves more users and push these things to Sid ASAP. I cannot imagine anyone wants to go Stable with the current state. Regards, Eduard. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
