Looks like modax is MIA.
Anyway I packaged the last upstream version, available in the git
repository in the like I posted in my last email and as a package in
the following page at mentors.d.n
    http://mentors.debian.net/package/libeatmydata
I put my name as a comaintainer. I've used that package for at least 6
month, and I don't encountered issue so far.

The last upstream version does not fix this issue, but it's anyway an update.
Furthermore I'm not able to fix such a issue, it far above my current
abilities (and knowledge).

I also hope upstream is still active, given that the last push is
dated 2013-11-20 and the only three bugs reported are outstanding.
