I know that it reformats already displayed lines a bit badly when
resizing, but have not been able to make it crash. Can you provide a
little more detail on this, e.g. does it happen every time you resize the
window?

If the new terminal width is less than 24, tirc outputs "tirc: screen
width too small, please resize".
