thanks for providing the verbose output. In the meantime I was able to
reproduce this behavior. It seems that restarting libvirtd using
systemd failes:
clempner:~# pidof libvirtd
340
clempner:~# systemctl restart libvirtd.service
Job for libvirtd.service failed. See 'systemctl status
libvirtd.service' and 'journalctl -xn' for details.

libvirtd 340

The old libvirtd is still running and uses old libraries. It seems to
be a bug in libvirtd failing to restart - doesn't it?
