--enable-builtin-mjpg works! A simple unvarnished guvcview seems to work, so maybe libavcodec is the basic problem. I can save video but as before both mplayer and vlc have problems displaying it. Maybe they are also using libavcodec and hitting a bug. Anyway, here is the console o/p from a successful run: ---------------------------------------------------------- V4L2_CORE: (UVCIOC_CTRL_MAP) Error: No such file or directory V4L2_CORE: (UVCIOC_CTRL_MAP) Error: No such file or directory V4L2_CORE: (UVCIOC_CTRL_MAP) Error: No such file or directory V4L2_CORE: (UVCIOC_CTRL_MAP) Error: No such file or directory V4L2_CORE: (UVCIOC_CTRL_MAP) Error: No such file or directory V4L2_CORE: (UVCIOC_CTRL_MAP) Error: No such file or directory V4L2_CORE: (UVCIOC_CTRL_MAP) Error: No such file or directory V4L2_CORE: (UVCIOC_CTRL_MAP) Error: No such file or directory V4L2_CORE: (UVCIOC_CTRL_MAP) Error: No such file or directory ALSA lib pcm.c:2239:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.rear ALSA lib pcm.c:2239:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.center_lfe ALSA lib pcm.c:2239:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.side ALSA lib pcm_route.c:947:(find_matching_chmap) Found no matching channel map ALSA lib pcm_route.c:947:(find_matching_chmap) Found no matching channel map ------------------------------------------------------------------- I assume that the above ALSA messages are just warnings although I a not sure I have had successful sound yet (on video). I suppose that I should check that. Alsa sound is working fine on sound files. But anyway, some real progress... ael -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
