On Debian GNU/Linux 8/jessie/testing with bash and dash, "man type" returns the documentation of libcaca0... I have seen the same problem with Ubuntu 14.04, so I assume that it has been "copy-pasted" by Ubuntu. "whereis type" returns "type: /usr/share/man/man3/type.3caca.gz". The locaction of the man is strange, but the content is also strange and speaks about libcaca and caca_event(3caca).
