Well, all these web plugin installation systems as we know it from Mozilla, GNOME and Cinnamon are security risks and should IMHO actually be disabled.
They circumvent the package management system, Debian's security support, and leave it completely open to upstream which code get's into Debian and which not. It makes it even questionable whether such packages are allowed to be in main. This is why we also have xul-ext-* packages, with properly packaged extensions, e.g. for Mozilla. Cheers, Chris.
