not much. My main guideline for maintaining sm is to avoid user options,
and the second is to avoid feature creep. So I wouldn’t want to see an
option for it.

One could argue that sm could simply always re-display whatever it
showed the last time, but that might be annoying at times, and I like
that it starts with a smiley.
