I already use Adwaita but I tested it again woth no luck. Were you able to workaround the problem somehow?
It looks like there's no workaround... I've installed the latest gnome-themes-standard (which contains Adwaita), version 3.14, and I already have GTK+ 3.14 in my Debian Testing VM. The outcome is the same as in your screenshot: the selected part of the input field in Wireshark doesn't look like it's actually selected. Only the font gets a bit bolder, that's all.
