Your patch looks fine to me, largely because it'll only affect sh4. Would you be able to submit it upstream as well? Have you tested that it will build with recent versions? We recently shifted the packaging to use "make all", but I'm not sure that will generate the u-boot.img used in the r2dplus target (just u-boot.bin). live well, vagrant
