I currently have gthumb 3:3.2.6-1+b1, and this still doesn't work,
but the problem is different: for the second instance, I get the
following error:

GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NotSupported: Application does not 
handle command line arguments

Note that I don't use a desktop environment.
