I have a dual head system at work running MATE from wheezy-backports and all is well with mate-screensaver.
The unlock screen appears on the monitor where I left the mouse, the other monitor stays black during unlocking.
When unlocked, both workspaces on both monitors reappear as expected.I will have to test this on Debian jessie, so my guess actually is, that we have another systemd issue going on here.
For now I reassign this bug to mate-screensaver. Let's see what my Debian jessie tests will bring next week.
