Your package, your call (as long as the release team doesn’t expect
failure to upgrade an “unrelated” package to be RC, of course).

It didn’t fail to upgrade, nor didn’t abort, and took care of what was
actually expected, that’s close enough to “working” for me:

[Install php-htmlpurifier from stable, and dpkg 1.17.12]

$ ls -l /usr/share/php/HTMLPurifier
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 40 mars  30  2012 /usr/share/php/HTMLPurifier ->
../php-htmlpurifier/library/HTMLPurifier

[Upgrade php-htmlpurifier to 4.6.0-1]

$ ls -l /usr/share/php/HTMLPurifier
