Ok, a user provided an actual link failure message: /home/frozar/soft/litl/src/.libs/liblitl.so: error: undefined reference to 'pthread_setspecific' So the issue is liblitl itself. I have reported upstream, they have added -lpthread in src/Makefile.am, that will come into Debian on next upstream release; in the meanwhile it's not actually useful to bother debian-release with this change since liblitl already actually pulls libpthread through librt.
