FWIW, I had nothing to do with the libc6-i386 dependency, but it was added automatically at build-time by one of the dpkg helper script. Anyway, long story short, the libc6-i386 dependency is not actually needed (even when debugging x86 programs) and I'm working on a fix to work around this. Cheers
