This issue effect all messenger clients which use 'libpurple' that's including: kde-telepathy BitBee pidgin etc.. I use kde-telepathy and the problem has been fixed by detrout, who fixed the issue and packaged files, and for kde-telepathy you need to install or update two packages only: libpurple-bin libpurple0 >From this page: https://ghic.org/~diane/pidgin/
