after some more digging and reverse engineering I found out what caused the missing symbols in the packages. They were stripped by the unicode_conv AWK script during the build, as the unicode to unicode conversion is not lossless. Hence the problem is created by trbdf I patched the unicode charset definition to include the Unicode Private Use Area (U+E000..U+F8FF). I think the assumption that the private use area should be excluded is wrong, as it's use depends on the communicating partners, and it is not up to a tool to strip characters defined in the source. I attached the patch that includes the full Private Use Area. After rebuilding xfonts-terminus with the patched trbdf in place the caracter become usable. Regards, Andre -- Andre Klärner
