The same happened to my wired connection.

macchanger is great a tool, but automatically changing MAC address
without user consent is puzzling at best, and could lead to unexpected
breakages.

I think macchanger should not do that by default and be installed out of
the box with ENABLE_ON_POST_DOWN=no. If the maintainer feels strongly
about making the package automatic change MACs, then there should be a
DebConf prompt (but still defaulting to "no", IMHO).
