Package: systemd
Version: 215-7
Severity: important

When gdm and kdm are installed, and kdm selected as default display
manager, the system cannot boot correctly. Only sometimes kdm manages
to launch. getty fails to launch as well, I think because it is
waiting for plymouth-wait-quit that never ends:

● getty@tty1.service - Getty on tty1
   Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/getty@.service; enabled)
   Active: inactive (dead)
     Docs: man:agetty(8)
           man:systemd-getty-generator(8)
           http://0pointer.de/blog/projects/serial-console.html

● plymouth-quit-wait.service - Wait for Plymouth Boot Screen to Quit
   Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/plymouth-quit-wait.service; static)
Active: activating (start) since Fri 2014-12-05 16:25:47 CLST; 1min 14s ago
 Main PID: 749 (plymouth)
   CGroup: /system.slice/plymouth-quit-wait.service
           └─749 /bin/plymouth --wait

Downgrading the sysv or insserv generators back to 215-7 did not work,
so perhaps the problem is elsewhere. Downgrading systemd and
libsystemd0 does not fix the issue either.

Other information that may be relevant:

When installing gdm3, the following message is displayed:
Setting up gdm3 (3.14.1-3) ...
WARNING: /lib/systemd/system/kdm.service is the selected default
display manager but does not exist
Job for gdm.service failed. See 'systemctl status gdm.service' and
'journalctl -xn' for details.
invoke-rc.d: initscript gdm3, action "reload" failed.

Masking gdm3 resulted in a booting system. This is strange because
failure to boot with gdm3 masked is what prompted me to unmask the
service and discover this problem :/

Any other information I can provide, please let me know
