git-annex currently contains its own implementation of a portable disk free space and size checking library. In a future version, I'd like to drop this code, and instead use the new disk-free-space from hackage. It will work on at least Linux, OSX, and Windows. Probably on the BSDs, but I have not checked. So, it would be nice to get this into Debian before-hand. -- see shy jo
