Hi! While working on the “reproducible builds” effort [1], we have noticed that nacl could not be built reproducibly. During the latest build, a different implementation for sha512 was picked between the first build and the subsequent rebuild [2]. While this should not be a problem for software built with nacl — unless calling a specific variant — it means that they might have different performance after using a version of the nacl package or another. It would be better to have the default choice be chosen in a deterministic way and provide both implementations to nacl users.
