Now that you've enlightened me on the finer points of systemd, I would
have to agree with you that this extra conffile would be overkill for
systemd, but for the benefit of Ubuntu, which uses upstart, would you
please reconsider sourcing this conffile in the sysv init script?  This
has always been the convention for sysv, and it would allow for
persistent options to exist without messing around with the actual init
script.
