I am running a custom kernel. Maybe if you send me your config and info about your sound hardware, I could help. Alternatively, I would start out with the config of a debian kernel, and just deactive drivers, you do not need, build in drivers you do need, or which need to be built in, if you do not want to use initrd. But since you say it works with debian kernels, this bug can be closed now? There is nothing we can do, if you build your own kernel and something is broken with the kernel.
