Agreed.

I am not a maintainer.

I am having doubts that a solution with orientation-requested will meet
with success as landscape printing in testing for PDFs appears to be
broken.

Both

  lp -d <print queue> -o landscape -o page-ranges=1
/usr/share/doc/shared-mime-info/shared-mime-info-spec.pdf

and

  lp -d <print queue> -o orientation-requested=4 -o page-ranges=1
/usr/share/doc/shared-mime-info/shared-mime-info-spec.pdf

are printed as portrait. I have tested this in a number of ways, including
setting up PostScript and PDF print queues to print to file. Also, pdfinfo
shows a rotation of 180 degrees in out.pdf taking place with

  /usr/sbin/cupsfilter -m application/vnd.cups-pdf <any_PDF> > out.pdf

Ubuntu has a couple of recent bug reports:

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1424609

and

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups-filters/+bug/1266119

Altering the title and severity of the bug to reflect reality.

Regards,

Brian.
