Package: libcolord Version: 1.2.1-1+b2 Severity: normal -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1
Hi, I am not a GNOME user. This means I often don't need GTK+ 3.0 or DConf. When I install anything which _can_ make use of colord, even if only as a minor feature, not the main purpose of the application, its dependency on libcolord causes an explosion of dependencies. Example: Today I wanted to install collectd on a server which indirectly (via recommending notification-daemon) pulls in colord. It makes sense for a ressource monitoring daemon to offer user-friendly notification, and it makes sense for the underlying toolkit of that notification mechanism (GTK+) to also be a toolkit for screen- and print-related stuff like color-calibration hinting based on profile of current screen. ...but it does not make sense for that chain of relationships to be recommendations: Colord makes sense only on desktop systems, but support for colord (i.e. linkage against libcolord) makes sense for non-dekstop systems as well. Packages cannot weaken a recommendation, only completely suppress (by conflicting/breaking) or strengthen a suggestion. Therefore, please lower the relationship to only suggest, and leve it to consuming packages to strenghten (as already gnome-control-center and cups does). - Jonas -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIcBAEBAgAGBQJVB1GHAAoJECx8MUbBoAEh4OUP/jZf991gIRNWoQYbXTTn4lQS Qbbn9FbWUBv39+WFMER5Vgt3qjsWafNVjlK2dmaTCTVqJircRsENErb38mkKoDsj OtXVtSkH3exoBbNjbDy+5wXSH4/vdrOXigtV7h7ZLuRUw/kW0v/uVJv8Y7d7wBSY rIQkumNHv7xHgSdfow9Wrt6Tfjzj221WfocZoRu9jqtufEOzmVqrwsfwkz+OBsd3 8YycJF+cH0ong7nnGPiyWhvuS6hckTx9nTlvOeRxFIoHANEpSx0pX5wUCiFHoB7a ElAgsdlASsfsY1geKLaIGYzrmH+hsH59IJrjhL9X80KSrWGjm00YDhr/Q3nsVlna Z4GHOooOub53C6qXIi0Rpc24AuqVL4qR8bhkBfNoJ26T4go/Rd28FSxeL5j+PqbR 3PVnsqAcejDDiyiN+msJPZcOGuEZ96q0gZaj2IwhH1vIlJSmdqRg2Zlxh3w6OKxP 6o/CWXIm20zigxckmp1/wtCYzPP1T7XNjgBasvmZOIVtp/Sh/AzYnRyFOlUwJKXD vT64aQfNhE/48TgWN22QeoPkE9d2K9UkPtcQm5HYgD0nrb00T2jikFPWH/BcePVM uih/F6I374JDiQBthdvHWDOqfGdl2pdk1fIac/YrUElzI42Yj4PyhB2Me5qDeP40 YOxUKex8Ws59eibZG5U9 =q/33 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
