... that does not work because the kernel build system ignores CC. What
may work is MAKEFLAGS="CC=gcc-3.2" command ... .

Anyways, the problem is gone since Sid has more recent kernels built
with gcc-4.0. And m-a got some code to put the right gcc version into
the path when needed.

That still may not work if the right version is not installed but that
is tolerable risk.
