Why important, though? Is there a package depending on this behavior, a reason it is needed in stable, or an unreported important bug that is fixed by the upgrade?
Mostly because the other bug merged (#777267) was already important, and severities need to match when merging. My interest in the new version is the threaded compression support - with dpkg now using liblzma as backend this should save considerable amount of time currently spent waiting building big -dbg packages etc.
