Just a note to this bug. I am soon uploading a version of dbconfig-common that is going to close this bug. Not because I applied the proposed patch (although looking at the code might suggest that) but because the requested idea is implemented, albeit differently. For the record: if you provide the dbc_dballow variable upon initial installation, it will be honored in a similar was as requested here. However that is not recommended, instead you should append it to the dbc_dbuser variable like username@domain. Paul
