* Bernhard Janetzki: " Packaging of suds-jurko" (Mon, 20 Apr 2015 22:57:09 +0200):
Hi together, > we need a Python 3 compatible SOAP-Client to port some stuff to python 3. > We found this thread about packaging of suds-jurko as python{2,3}-suds: > https://lists.debian.org/debian-python/2014/07/msg00001.html > > Do you still working on this package? Packaging of suds-jurko is almost ready, the drop-in package for python-suds being prepared. But read below. > If there are concerns about backward compatibility a solution could be to > package only python3-suds from the suds-jurko src? My concerns so far are not for backward incompatibility, but for a rather reliably maintained upstream. I was in regluar contact with jurko, who said to suffer from shortages in ressources. So for now it can be seen, that the project receives a lot of public attention (issues, pull requests)and is widely used[0], but the last commit dates from last year[1] and development seems to stagnate. So from my side I am still hesitating and will wait further with pushing suds-jurko as a replacement for python-suds. If pysimplesoap [2][3] proves to be a well maintained project providing all necessary features, it should be the preferable target for a Python2/Python3 SOAP client.
