Still basically accurate. >> - Does the netbsd port still exist? > > I don't know. Let's ask Joel. It's been rather quiet, lately, but in theory it certainly does. Without reviewing the entire patch set and issue, I'd say the following is a good guideline: 1) netbsdelf*-gnu means: * Debian standard GCC * Debian standard binutils (including linker) * NetBSD 'native' libc (and related; libm, etc.) * Debian standard 'non-system' libraries As such, I would be of the opinion that if applying the basic logic to prune unused libraries causes a failure in anything under netbsdelf*-gnu, then it's a (significant) bug in the netbsd port and should be addressed by the porters (at the moment, that mostly seems to be 'me'). The only 'odd' library I know of for linking issues is/was libc, in that older GCC releases had some logic regarding whether to implicitly link libc on older NetBSD releases. I believe, however, that this is no longer an issue, particularly in the Debian GCC packages, since I recall writing patches to deal with it at the time, and I think it has become a non-issue, since that point. Other than that, I can work on making time to take a look at the patch more intensively, if there's some doubt about it, but anything that actually *works* for both Linux and kfreebsd*-gnu and/or knetbsd*-gnu is unlikely to break netbsdelf*-gnu (one possible point of note is that the Debian NetBSD port follows Debian library number conventions, not NetBSD ones - but that should make things easier, in general, anyway). -- Joel Aelwyn <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ,''`. : :' : `. `' `-
