Hmm okay; I was able to figure out the steps to recreate the problem. Thanks for pointing out upstream bug #1178 because that wouldn't have been easy to find. The patch upstream has incorporated seems to disable the DNS lookup, which I guess is reasonable. The patch applies with some line offset. I'll likely upload a version with this patch to Jessie.
